Environmental Design: holiday house

Paper, digital software application

In this task, students learnt how to apply technical drawing specifications to design a holiday house for a specific client. Following research, original sketches translated into two-dimensional floor plans and elevations, followed by planometric views of one room, and a fully rendered two-point perspective drawing of their holiday house.

Conventions: Lunch box design

Paper, digital software application

This task introduced technical drawing specifications and creative and critical thinking. Students sketched ideas that were then translated into orthogonal and isometric drawings for a lunch box design with a specified target audience. Working with software to develop drawings also allowed creative ideas to be critically developed which in turn nurtured design thinking.

Social Issues posters

Paper, digital software application

Students explored emotion in visual communication and researched social issues. They then generated ideas around how emotions could be visually illustrated using key design elements and principles, which were digitally composed to reflect a poster on their chosen social issue.
