Collaborative Design
Acrylic, various timbers, 3D Printing
Students worked collaboratively to reflect industry to define a problem, need or opportunity. In lock down, their homes became design studios, which required them to communicate using various softwares while the school became the manufacturer. Software included MS Teams, SketchUp and Adobe Illustrator for manufacture. During this process, students sent digital files for manufacture and received feedback, which allowed them to modify products to suit end user needs. This gave students an understanding of how designers work in industry, the non-linear nature of the product design process, and the importance of balancing end user needs with efficient manufacture.
The following contexts and opportunities were addressed during this years Collaborative work:
· Comfortable airline travel
· Products for Home Offices that improve well being
· Kitchen products that minimise clutter.
