Hollie Kerwood uses photography as the primary artform for her artworks creating colour filled photographs of the relationship between fire and nature and the outcome of this destructiveness. Kerwood’s older artworks depicted through a series of two photography artworks and one painting explores the confrontation of fire through different focal points and subject matters, although both explore the same thematic idea. Kerwood’s most powerful artwork to date, Fire vs Nature, explores the idea of fire being aggressive against different elements of nature shown through the reoccurring features of fire throughout the artwork. This depicts a story of how quickly fire can destroy nature, and the outcome of this is represented through the smoke that flows throughout the artwork. Presented on a large scale, Kerwood further emphasises the different connecting elements of nature shown within the artwork.
