Tonal Figure Drawings

To make these drawings, students studied the proportions of the human body and made a series of drawings of mannequins, dancers and people playing sport. They explored ways to represent movement of the human figure by drawing people while they moved, or movements captured in still photographs or poses. Students made their artwork using a variety of two-dimensional materials and explored how different types of compositions can create different atmospheres and visual qualities in finished artworks showing the human figure.
