Work 1: Reincarnation
Another thing which means nothing in our world will really die out. The body of the dying person gradually becomes butterflies, which is the symbol of life cycle transformation. It was, is, and will last and live forever. It's one of my understanding of Yin and Yang. Two opposite elements of the devil’s horn and angel’s wings present that good and evil exist and coexist in one person. It is consistent with the balance, opposite, and unity in Yin and Yang. As another key element, the butterfly is another form transformed into having the symbolization of freedom and spiritual level. The flowers on the horn are hyacinth, having the flower moral of rebirth. Taiji (Taichi) as the symbol of Yin and Yang is the composition of the whole work. The collage of butterflies is used to enhance the contrast between the theme of Yin and Yang.
Work 2: Illusory Truth
The girl and the viewer are the same perspectives, that is, reality. It seems that something stops on her hand, but in fact, there is nothing. On the other side, there is the shadow of the girl, and a butterfly stops on the shadow's hand. In real life, you may not see what you want to see and truth and falsehood are a kind of Yin and Yang form. Yin and Yang are separated but still connected forever. The girl's hair can be seen as the cage, restriction, in contrast to the free butterfly. Blue and yellow as one of my favourite colour choice adds a contrast in the image
