ECO-SCULPTURE
Recycled 3D Printing Filament, Concrete Outer Shell, String Watering System, Painted Finish, Native Plants and Soil
With climate change and Urban Heating posing a continuously rising threat to our city and planet, these ECO-SCULPTUREs work to combat the daily production of carbon and greenhouse gases in the city. With a self-sufficient watering system, ECO-SCULPTUREs can house and water native plants to bring greenery back into our city streets. The large-scale sculpture provides shade and shelter to city streets while promoting sustainability to the public with its greenery eco-friendly structure.
Inspired by the native Australian Boab tree and filtration functions of coral, the large open basins double as a home for plants as well as a funnel for catching rainwater. It can then travel down the arms and be stored in the central body. A string watering system brings the water back to the plants to keep soil watered and healthy in dry seasons. These methods have been proven in the natural world and ECO-SCULPTUREs plan to bring it back to our concrete jungle.
