Type as Image

Vector-based digital image manipulation, raster-based digital image manipulation and water colour painting

Students applied their understanding of type anatomy and characteristics of type, combining type and imagery to create a set of three playing card designs. The work was composed of three different presentation methods including digital and manual processes.

Design Task

Students used the design process to generate a wide range of ideas before developing and three original concepts in response to the Covid 19 pandemic. Students were encouraged to explore and use a range of methods, media and materials to produce highly resolved concepts.

Concept Models

Environmental Design Task

Students produced a three-dimensional architectural model based upon their original design of a children’s Playspace. They were encouraged to experiment with materials and demonstrate a wide range of surface textures during the construction of their models.
