adrienne battistella

Adrienne Battistella’s, ‘Blur’ portrays a body of movement at a concert scene. Through painting repetitive linework the painting embodies an organic, free forming wave creating a visual optical illusion, as the static still crowd becomes distorted. Precision and control of the rhythm allows an engrossing, boundless and eye-catching abstract.

The overpowering, bright colours are symbols of chaos found at a concert, to continue Battistella’s ongoing themes of a universal experience during a “journey on a night out”. Which is further portrayed by the metaphor of the wave, extending from a concert like sound waves. Sound waves send vibrations of sound information to the brain for processing, which is a shared experience for all humans. Thus, Battistella’s artwork presents a sense of unity through the cohesive lines and interconnection to individuals’ perception. Experiencing events is purely subjective however the science of processing, hearing, sending, and forming viewed information is ordinary for the human body to experience. In a society of individuals, the reminders of fundamental, universal experiences offer perspective on the non-questionable similarities of one another. Battistella was able to draw inspiration and refine her techniques through her unit 3 artworks, displaying a painting of a concert crowd and watercolour of the distortions of a night out.
